On Sunday 6 July we caught the ferry from Comox across the Strait of Georgia, past the Discovery Islands, to Powell River, where MP's daughter, S, lives. I hadn't seen S in 13 years, when she was a teenager! Now she's married and is expecting a baby in December. She and her husband had sold their house and just the day before moved into a friend's place where they were house-sitting for a month while looking for a new place to buy. But they still put us up for a night, and we had great fun with them. S is a supply teacher and had the summer off, so while D went to work on Monday we enjoyed another day at the beach, eating ice cream, and playing mini-golf. (We usually had one ice-cream cone or other treat a day - holiday tradition!)
(Note: the date on some of these pictures is off - I think because I'd run out of battery and it took me a while to get a new one, so the date counter got out of synch. And it took me a while to remember how to change it!)
The mini-golf was right next to the ice-cream shop (part of the same operation). The kids played while S & I watched. Mustang had a pretty good sense of how to play, though some of the tricky angles took a while to conoquer. Button often ended up "sliding" the ball with his club, rather than hitting it! But who cares, nobody was keeping score.
